Cliff, Squire of the Ring

We are proud to announce that Cliff Marchant from our team
has been elected to the most honoured position of Squire of the Morris Ring of England.
He formally danced in at the Bristol ring meeting on Sunday 28th July 2002

The Ring organisation, run by a Squire, Bagman and Treasurer, now has 246 member and associate teams, yet the clubs retain their independence and The Ring is basically still the same organisation set up by the men at Cambridge in 1934. There is an annual meeting at Thaxted on the weekend following the Spring Bank Holiday, and several other Ring Meetings throughout the country organised by local Morris teams during the year. The Morris has become a worldwide dance form with over a thousand groups of dancers participating.
